Fallout 3 continued

November 20th, 2008

So I have been playing Fallout 3 pretty much lately and it is still interesting. Got bored of Far Cry 2 already. I still haven’t got bored of running around in the wasteland doing stuff for people and being the good savior of the people(I haven’t got bad karma single time in entire game) and everytime I enter Megaton some random guy runs and gives me something, so it is useful to be good. Next time I will be bad though to see what it is like.

Been visiting some strange places lately and here is a pic of one of them. I won’t spoil you anything about that place since you will have to see it for yourself.

I will be reporting in if I find anything major bad to say about the game. Hopefully anything won’t show up, but if somethind does I will be sure to mention!

Far Cry 2

November 16th, 2008

Yup. Jumping from game to game like crazy, but I have a good explanation for that. I couldn’t run much good games before, but now I finally can so I must try every game I have.

So lets start talking about Far Cry 2, shall we? I have to admit, the game looks and sounds good. The enviroment looks very good, but I really haven’t liked the story so far. I can’t really explain why, but the idea of a mercenary on his mission to kill certain guy catches malaria and by taking pills is in a good shape enough to still continue his mission.

The size of the area is huge! You have 50 square kilometers to walk, drive and swim in. The bad thing is that walking around takes long time, but its good that there are cars to steal and take over almost everywhere. Driving cars is pretty fun, but I don’t like the idea that you can repair car just by turning one bolt all the time. They could have included some good animations for that too.

The enviroment sounds and looks like Africa to me. You can hear monkeys and birds somewhere, but I haven’t seen any yet. I am not sure if you even can see them. The grass and trees look nice and the fact that you can easily start fires on dry areas is fun. But the problem to me is that the fires don’t spread enough. If I throw a molotov in to bush in dry desert area, I would except the fire to spread from bushes to the grass and keep on growing until there is nothing left to burn. Don’t get me wrong, the fire does spread. But it just stops spreading even if there are grass and trees near to burn. I had to use 5 grenades, 5 molotovs and 3 rockets to make this fire:

I will probably get back to Fallout 3 now, and continue playing it. Someone told me that Far Cry 2 is superior to Fallout, but so far it doens’t seem to be anywhere near Fallout 3.

Fallout 3

November 15th, 2008

Fallout 3, finally. I had huge expectations of the game and so far it seems to be good, damn good. The very moment the game started was a huge surprice(I won’t tell you, you have to see for yourself) and the whole idea of how you set your skills is good. The graphics look good and the gameplay is nice. I really like the V.A.T.S., it brings nice touch to the shooting. If you don’t know what V.A.T.S. is, check this picture:

You can pause the fire-fight any time and use your AP to aim for different spots, you can see me aiming all my shots to the enemys head. You can also use V.A.T.S. with melee weapons. This is a picture of me attacking with combat knife after aiming with V.A.T.S.:

So, I will keep on playing and I will keep you reported of how the game goes.

So remember to put on your power armors and check your gauss guns before you go outside. Its a brutal world out there!

Revisiting Left 4 Dead

November 15th, 2008

So I finally got my new Radeon and I decided to try to play Left 4 Dead with it. Hoping that the color bug wouldn’t come anymore, and it didn’t. The game just looked awesome. Here are couple of screenshots:

Left 4 dead

November 12th, 2008

Left 4 dead is a new shooter game from Valve. The public demo is now out and I recommended it to everyone. The idea of 4 players co-op is great in it works! I had many fun runs thru the short demo today and I enjoyed them a lot, since the zombies come from different directions every time and boss zombies really spice the game up. There are just some hardware problems with the game.

You see, when you create a lobby you have to wait for people to join. There is no server searching system like in other Valve multiplayer games. Then after 3 other players have joined you click Start button. The game starts to search for dedicated server for you and your group to play in. Sometimes it cannot find one and you will be forced to play in your local hosted server, which atleast in my case lags pretty bad. But the dedicated servers aren’t all that good either. Most times the servers lagged and in some cases it was unplayable. They should improve the system to find servers from only close to the players, if there even is one at all.

And then there is the more annoying one, my computer problems. This picture will tell you everything:

Windows XP

November 9th, 2008

Nice, just nice. Yesterday evening my Windows XP refused to boot. It gave me BSOD every time I tried to boot and I couldn’t even boot it to safe mode. I tried windows repair install, but it was no use. I was fucking annoyed that I would lose everything on my C:/ drive. Well, at the end I had no choice but to install clean windows on my C:/ drive and lose everything there, including my backuped drivers. Installing drivers to my computer is a bitch, since you have to even get Network card drivers before you can even browse internet. Well, I got the drivers from Fujitsu-Siemens site with my product-key and started to install my drivers. But the god damn Network driver was somehow corrupted and Windows would freeze in 1-5 minutes after boot. I had no choice but to disable Network drivers from my computer and use my other crappy computer to get the newest drivers, which wasn’t easy. Thank god I finally got it to work and thank god I kept most of the important stuff on my D:/ drive:)

Fallout 3

November 9th, 2008

I must admit, I have huge thoughts about Fallout 3 since it had been made by Bethesda, and not Interplay. I always thought that it would just be too much like Oblivion. But it seems that I was proven wrong. I played the game today on my friends PS3 (that’s right, my computer can’t run it, yet) and it was great fun. I didn’t get to see anything about the storyline, but only random little missions and gameplay. I must tell you that the first 20 minutes I just ran around, looking for super mutants to blast their heads off with combat shotgun. The VATS (aiming system, google it) is pretty interesting and spices the combat up a bit. But it’s just so easy to run to the enemy and blast couple of VATS aimed shotgun shells to hes/shes/its head to blow it off just to hear your friends laugh behind you. The bullet camera that VATS gives you is nice too. I took a 8% chance hit to head with VATS and I hit. The game went into a slow-motion and camera followed the bullet as it went towards it target. It looked good.

As I stated earlier, my computer can’t yet run Fallout 3. I thought that this game should be the moment when I would upgrade my crappy machine. I don’t really care about anything else, than being able to even play Fallout 3. I will buy Ati Radeon HD3650 to boost up my machine a bit. I just hope it’s enough:D

Little pick of my passive-cooled Ati Radeon:

Merging blogs and news about the map

November 7th, 2008

I will delete my mapping blog and just simply write anything about my mapping to this blog.

And the map is going on still. The red side has gotten the RED:ish look, made of wood and the view outside the window has been made to look like view to a farm area. So the two sides have been decorated completely differently at the moment. I will fix some lightning issues and post pictures after that, promise:D
