League of Legends NDA lifted

October 25th, 2009 by Duulis No comments »

Well it was actually lifted some time ago, but I was in middle of changing computers then. I also lost most of the material I had taken from the game, and only a small image gallery which I had already uploaded here remains. Well it’s better than nothing.

TF2 idling made easy again!

October 20th, 2009 by Duulis No comments »

DispenserGUM has made TF2 idling much easier again. This time without the fear of losing your items!

In his post at sourceop.com

http://www.sourceop.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=2086

He tells that this IS in-game idling. The script can easily change your video settings to launch TF2 in low-video mode or with your normal settings. It will also cycle reconnect/cycle through servers in servers.txt file if you get disconnected.

This is not VAC-bannable in any way, nor is this using an external program to gain anything in the game. This is just CMD-script that makes idling easier.

Download from http://www.mediafire.com/file/kj5qmymniqt/GUMsModeV113.rar and fire away!

ScribeFire and vote for Gordon Freeman!

October 8th, 2009 by Duulis No comments »

ScribeFire is a nice Mozilla Firefox addon that let’s you write blog entries directly from your browser. You can use it easily with different kind of blogs like I use it with my wordpress. If you write a blog, you should grab this addon!

Oh and Gamespot is having a competition about the All-time greatest game hero. Gordon Freeman has made his way pretty high, and is now facing against Link. He has a steady lead at the moment because Valve rallied some of his loyal fans to vote for him.
If you haven’t voted already, vote for gordon at: http://www.gamespot.com/greatest-video-game-hero/vote/index.html?battle_id=62

My new laptop

October 4th, 2009 by Duulis No comments »

I figured that I could really use a laptop for school and other things where I need my computer.

I bought Acer Aspire 7535G

It has:

  • AMD Athlon 64X QL-65 (2.1 GHz)
  • Ati Mobility Radeon Hd 4570 with 512 mb memory
  • 17.3 HD+ LED LCD
  • 4 gb DDR3
  • 320 gb hdd
  • Free Windows 7 when it comes out

So pretty much everything I need from a laptop and a little more. Didn’t even cost too much (600€).

League of Legends NDA loosened

September 18th, 2009 by Duulis No comments »

Riot games loosened the NDA of League of Legends and now beta-testers are allowed to discuss about the game openly. Posting screenshots and videos is forbidden though.

So lets talk about the game then, shall we?

Heroes

I haven’t had a chance to try too much heroes in the game and I have mostly been playing with the beginner friendly heroes, Master Yi, Annie and Ryze. I have been playing against various heroes though and I must say that atleast at the moment the game is not completely balanced. Some heroes just own, while others do not own so much. Good example would be Ryze, who can use his ultimate to own two heroes of his same level and then normal skills to take down a third. But you have to remember the fact that the game is in closed beta and balancing is an issue that is worked on all the time.

Items

Items in this game are not too interesting. Just basic attack speed, damage and shizzle. There are some new stuff though, like ability points, which increase damage of your abilities. The shopping for items in this game is made really easy for new players though, since the shop recommends to you what items you should buy. You can also easily buy items that require multiple items to complete and see the amount of money you still need to build it.

Maps

Not too much to say about the maps. Two maps currently, both have exactly the same layout, but different themes. Layout doesn’t differ from Warcraft III dota, except there is no secret shop or Roshan.

Creeps and towers

First of all, there is no denying in this game. You can’t deny creeps nor turrets at all. Creeps do a nice amount of damage, and they won’t always target other creeps prior to you. This can and will become quite annoying. I certainly hope they will fix it. Neutral creeps are in the game too and some of them are really strong with healt points of 4000 or so.

Towers in this game always prior creeps before players. If there is even one creep in the range of the turret, the turret will start shooting it even if it wasn’t doing any damage to the turret and the player is bashing the hell out of the turret. The turrents in the beginning of the lane are more easier to destroy than the ones in the base.

Then there are the inhibitors. There are three inhibitors in each teams base, one for each lane. If enemy team destroys one of your inhibitors, they will have a super creep in every creep wave coming from that lane untill the inhibitor has restored itself. Inhibitors respawn in couple of minutes after destroyed, so if enemy team manages to destroy one then it would be wise to defend your base for a while after that. If enemy team manages to destroy all three of your inhibitors, the game will probably end in your loss rather soon.

Can’t think of what more to write right now, so I will probably write more later. You can also ask me questions and I will answer them as much as I can.

New theme. Again.

September 15th, 2009 by Duulis No comments »

I started to dislike the very dark theme of the blog, so I decided that I wanted it to have more light colors.

This theme, Greenpark 2, hit my eye because of the rather good looking style and because it has the same structure than the dark theme I used. I think I will be using this theme for a while, unless someone really dislikes it.

My thoughts about current WoW raiding

September 10th, 2009 by Duulis No comments »

I am a semi-hardcore World of Warcraft player. I spend time with my friends during daytime. I raid 4 days a week, 16 hours a week. Currently I am mostly getting bored at the raiding. Why? Because the new content has been divided in to two categories: super easy and super hard.

Trial of the Crusader

Trial of the Crusader

In the picture on the right you can see our guild steamrolling through the newest content in game. Trial of the Crusader. In the picture we have been raiding for 50 minutes and we have already reached the last boss in the raid. About 10 minutes after the picture was taken, we had already distributed the loot and moved elsewhere. This was however only the normal mode of the 25-man raid.

Blizzard decided to make two versions of each raids. Normal and Heroic. The normal mode is ridiculously easy and just free gear without almost any kind of effort. But when you try to move to the heroic mode, thinking that it’s probably not much harder than the normal mode, but boy… You are wrong there.

You are limited to 50 tries per week. Every time you have to restart the boss, you lose one try. After all 50 tries have been used, you have to come back next week. The less tries you use, the better the loot is.

When the first boss walks in and if your healers are not prepared to heal their asses off, you will wipe instantly. The boss hits like a truck. Our guild can easily oneshot the 25-man normal, but we can’t even down the first of the Northern Beasts in heroic.

Same stuff goes on in Ulduar. Normal modes are rather easy, some of the hard-modes are god damn hard. I have to say though, Blizzard managed to make couple of good hard-mode bosses, like Freya. In Freya you can choose the difficulty by selecting if you want to keep up one, two or three of her helpers. Same mechanic is used on Flame Leviathan and Yogg-Saron.

I keep hearing about how Vanilla and TBC raiding were so much better than the current raiding. I myself can’t give any comment about that, since I wasn’t playing then. Blizzard is planning on revamp some of the old content, starting with lvl 60 raid, Onyxia’s lair. I am eagerly waiting to see that happen.

League of Legends closed beta

September 9th, 2009 by Duulis 2 comments »

So yeah, just thought I would let you know I got in to League of Legends closed beta by a friend inviting me. All my invites have been reserved already though, so no point in even asking for them.

Can’t post any material about it yet now though. Don’t worry though, I will be collecting screenshots that I will post as soon as Riot lifts the restriction that prevents the beta testers to publish material about the game.
